Wow!!! Shocked Laughing Laughing

How many "fathers" does ninjutsu have anyway. I thought Stephen Hayes was the "father of Ninjutsu". Got to love the Satin Hakama, now thats classy.

Matt, did you watch the video of his "drawing" stuff? I think you will love that. And yes the "wooden samyrey sword" is cute.

rikoseishin,

Interesting...especially the everybody-come-one-at-a-time "group attack."
It is stuff like this that has made me happy to be on this history forum. Less modern crazyness creeping in.

Is this the guy you mentioned on wiki?
I think he shouldn't be on the chart. Very Happy

I have no idea what is going on inside of the American bujutsu society.
Will you tell me why "correct soke charts" bring troubles?

shikisoku,

Because every American doujou owner wants to be called soke and claim some kind of impressive authority. It is sickening actually. Too many people form their own styles just so that they can be the "headmaster" of a style.

Shikisoku,

I think Matt hit the nail pretty well. The problem is as he desrcibed, and I am an elitest as well Cool

I mentioned that I thought successor would be a good term to use. That way you are denoting that those persons have received transmission of the ryu while still leaving an air of humility to it.

I still don't understand very well.
Do you mean the correct soke chart on S-A wiki may be used by those fake-masters to fabricate their roots?

Took me a while to figure out it doesn't matter what someone calls themselves. Unfortuneately the average person knows very little about martial arts (as shown by the youngling who challenged me wanting to use a live weapon assuming I was invulnerable) and they take those titles seriously.

Now I stay out of politics, but have seen examples of weeks of arguments in martial arts yahoo group wherein my delete key gets an exceptional workout

Shikisoku,

It is not that people use these lineages to affirm themsselves, but instead they "create their own styles." My problem is that these people call them selves "soke" of "So and So Style of Kickass This and That", when they have no experince in any type of koryu, they may have attended a few classes of jujutsu adn karate at a local mcdojo, and decided that they, after all their time and training have discoved how to defeat all other styles of any other budo/bujutsu know to man.

It is just a bunch of crap, and I assume it would be harder to do in Japan, but here where people have so little knowledge of culture, let alone one of the the martial variety it is easy for a dumbass to pulls something out of his ass and gain a large number of loyal followers, just by calling themselves "soke."

Kung Fu Action Masters:

"David Carradine roamed the Earth and ably defended himself in the 1970s television series Kung Fu. This informative martial arts instructional puts the star in a teaching role where he demonstrates how to perform these incredible moves and what purpose they serve utilizing clips from martial arts action films. Carradine is assisted by Ronald Duncan, a ninja master, and Survivor, masters of rock music single "Eye of the Tiger."

Is this like the best movie in the entire world or what? David Caradine, a Ninja Master, and "Eye of the Tiger" - it can't get any better than this!
