1. Is 直新陰流 different from the Shin-Kage ryu listed on the SamuraiWiki?

2. The biography for Aisu Hisatada, the founder of Aisu Kage ryu on the Samurai Wiki has his name as: 移香斎 Ikousai - but the biography I have has 移香 - is there a difference? I've seen the 斎 on the end of names before - what's the deal with this?

kitsuno,

I think (though I could be wrong) that it is a different form of 聖 and used to basically mean "saint." For example the title 剣聖.

平和,

Shin-Kage Ryu on S=A wiki is 新陰流 so it's different.

It seems Ikosai was Homei 法名.
His real name was Taro.

BTW Aisu-Kage Ryu is usually called just Kage Ryu in Japan.

Near as I can tell, it's じきしんかげりゅう. It may be a (relatively obscure) branch of the more famous 新陰流. I'll try to look it up in my various books on old-style kenjutsu when I have more time.

Yup, a Japanese internet search show it as Jiki shin kage ryu, but if you could get me more info on that specific style and its relation to shin kage ryu, that would be great.
