Talk:Okita Soji has been locked to prevent editing so I'm posting my reply here.

That photo is the cover of a book published in 1977.

Many historians believe it isn't Okita because the family crest on this man's clothes isn't the Okita family's. In addition, according to the book, this photo was found among Hijikata's belongings. Some people believe that it's Okita's photo because Hijikata and him were like brothers. However, the brotherly relationship between Okita and Hijikata is in fact fictional (created by Shiba.)

So basically it's just one book's theory - I'm not sure if that warrants it going into the bio or not- I'd be inclined to put it in, but if it is pretty much just BS, better to leave it off.

I think that it's better to leave it off too (especially since this book is a monogatari book, not a research book.)

Well, my point was that if it forced debate in academic circles, it would be worth putting up and describing as such. But if it is just one conspiracy theory nut who got a book published, it isn't worth it.

Seven posted on S-A wiki that the book was Gekiroku Shinsengumi 激録・新撰組.
What weird is the author seems wrestling specialist.
He is publishing many wrestling related books.
