After weeks of searching fruitlessly, I have finally found a location to begin studying Japanese in Montreal at an affordable price and time for someone who works 9-to-5s. Very Happy

It is located at the CCCJM (Canadian-Japanese Cultural Center of Montreal), which should allow me some opportunities to participate in Japanese cultural events... and perhaps even discussions and panels on Japanese history.

I must admit I am as excited as a kid going to his first class. Just Kidding

Yeah, thanks! I can't wait to begin.

That is, of course, if the course isn't canceled because there aren't enough students. I have been that unlucky before... Laughing

Drakken,

I am just curious. Do you have anything that is simular to a community college in Canada? The CC schools is where I started to learn Japanese. Good luck with your studies.

Here in Quebec at least, community colleges are more technical, for example for helping people learn a new trade or learn English or French. There is one big language college in Montreal which offers a wide range of languages, but it is rather expensive and seem to be concentrating on conversational language, while my focus is more on reading and understanding the language. Confused

The advantage of studying at CCCJM is that it's a cultural center for people interested in Japanese culture. They offer ikebana courses, for instance, and they have a Japanese library which could be handy if I feel confiant enough to read historical sources. Thus it'd be much easier to include some cultural and historical learning in my curriculum there.
