Veteran TV and film jidai geki star Harada Yoshio passed away at the age of 71 on July19 after a bout with pneumonia. The funeral was yesterday. This must have come suddenly as he made a public appearance on the 11th.

He was in countless samurai films but some of you may remember him from Ronin Gai, the Mikogami series of fims, Lady Snowblood 2, and even that horrible ninja vs samurai flick set in modern Japan starring Christopher Lambert called the Hunted.

I must have misheard you, it sounded like you said The Hunted was horrible? Horribly awesome perhaps!

That's enough of a recommendation for me, from both Obenjo and Kitsuno. The Hunted moved to number one in my Netflix queue.

Sad to hear about Yoshio. I remember him from Ronin Gai and the Mikogami series.

It is indeed a classic. A bow-slinging post-Shogun pre-nude pictorials Shimada Yoko too! The one sheet looks down approvingly on me as I write.

The Hunted was excellent. Very entertaining. And yes Kitsuno, that's the best Shinkansen ninja battle I've ever seen. Of course it was the only one I've ever seen but that's beside the point. Very entertaining. I don't understand why Obenjo didn't like it.
