What was the point of that video. To prove the sword throwing technique in "The Last Samurai" could be done or what? That was pretty retarded.

Matt,

Well if any thing it is flashy. But I just love to see stuff like that. I wonder if they realize that the cuts they make would barely cut the skin?

That first video did accomplish one thing; it proved samurai swords are sharp. Laughing That other video was just a typical weapons tournament form. Yet, another example of the way mcdojos are destroying the reputation of real martial arts. When I was younger I trained at a wushu school for 8 months and I went to tournaments with them. That sort of stuff is pretty much the standard if you want to win a 6 foot tall plastic trophy. Rediculous looking uniforms and completely impractical forms with lots of flips.

I prefer a nice Scottish lass in a pretty dress dancing with a sword. John

Sword and dress are in such a case just optional, really. In fact- having a choice- I would prefer to put them aside but... de gustibus Smile

its a shame that they have to use a katana for those 2 forms of "art?"
the last one has an excess on large movements like the bows, and the arm movements Confused , and its much of a show, but there it ends I suppose.

Woah. Deadly cheap maneuver. It looked like the katana bend a few times. Terrible.

I must say, I'm impressed that those judges dared to sit that close to the guy, with the way he was swinging the thing I was surpirsed that the blade didn't just fly out of his hand and killed someone Laughing
