I've recently come across a name on a document hand written with a brush, and the second kanji on the family name is somewhat blurred. For various reasons I can't post a scan of it (which of course would be ideal in asking for help, but sometimes it's not in the cards). At any rate, it's most likely one of the three following combos:

三捕有巧

三埔有巧

三悑有巧

My personal feeling is that it's the third one, and the given name could be Ariyoshi. I've run it through the usual sources and haven't been able to come up with a reading for the name, so if anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.

The first one could be Mitsudori or Midori. So many nanori. Even Sanbo, doubtful. #2 and 3 very tough in Japanese. Are you sure 三捕 is the family name and not 有巧 Ariyoshi?? Just checking. John

Are you sure it's not Miura 三浦? That's a relatively common name...

Thanks for everyone's input-John, the name (L-R) is top to bottom on the document so 'Ariyoshi' is almost certainly the given name (if it's Ariyoshi at all-it's a pretty uncommon name, particularly for that kanji combo, but it's all I could find).

I ended up sending it out for digital enhancement-while the second kanji on the document as it stands now looks exactly like 悑, the enhancement shows before it ran/blurred it was likely 浦 with lighter strokes connecting the three strokes on the left-meaning 'Miura' it is.

Thanks!
