I haven't listened to the podcast or seen the book yet, but Michael Wert's new book "Meiji Restoration Losers: Memory and Tokugawa Supporters in Modern Japan" looks quite interesting, and was discussed recently on the New Books in East Asian Studies podcast:

Despite the juicy title it is about Oguri Tadamasa and his after death life in popular culture .
