If you've always wanted a copy of Samural Hawley's "Imjin War" (in our opinion, the best overall English language treatment of the Bunroku/Keicho invasions of Korea carried out by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the 1590's) but didn't want to pay the ridiculous prices it was going for on the aftermarket, you're in luck. The reprint TPB edition is now available for just about $20, and you can get it here. Cool new cover and a new preface, but otherwise no changes from the hardback (for those that own it already). We bought it just because of the new cover, and because after Hawley's comments on academia and Ken Swope, he's our hero.

Thanks for the tip. I've been waiting to get my hands on this book at a reasonable price for a long time.

Finally! I could not even get this darn book through inter library loan at my university. I have no idea why this book should be more difficult to get a hold of then a 1905 travelogue written by a British visitor to Korea that has been out of print since the early 1900s. I have been waiting so long to learn more about this conflict and its implications for Korean-Japanese-Chinese history. Other than your great reading group on the Imjin War, it has been so difficult digging up good information on this event.
