We are up to three entries. Two more entries, and the total pot will increase by $50. Tell your friends! Current entry fee is $10.

Hehe, you're just saying that because you want a bigger pot to haul in. Cool

I'd help you out, but I'm just snowed in with work. It's a shame, because I was looking forward to writing something, but that's life!

You do have another 7 months - I wrote my story last year in about 2 days. The rough draft was finished in 2 hours. This is a short story contest, not a novel - it really doesn't take very long. One writer has already submitted the actual story, the concept is great - really creative. Since I'm not a judge, I get first look at all the stories Just Kidding

Does anyone know if there are any "creative writing" lists or groups out there that would be interested? Personally, I like to see a lot of entries, it makes for a better contest (and since I not only don't benefit from a lot of entries, but it will actually cost me more money, I'm unbiased in that regard) - if anyone knows of, or is a part of, that type of group, let them know. Also might want to mention that last year's winner basicaly said that he really had no grasp of Japanese history at all, he just used his interest in mythology to build his story, and filled in the blanks - so it can be done even without volumes of "samurai" knowledge.

Might also want to mention, that if, for example, there were 20 entries, the pot would be around $400.

Hey, we could make a DEAL. Send me your plot outline and I'll "ghost" the story for you! Twisted Evil

Assuming you win, then we'll split the pot!!! Just Kidding

I have decided to keep the entry fee at $10 until the end of January, after which it will go up to $15, so if you plan on entering, here's your chance to get in with a discount.

So far, 2 entries plus Carlo's contribution, so 3x the lowest amount so far. For every 5 entries, I'm kicking in an additional fiddy, too.

Well maybe I'd enter...but I've had major writer's block for the last oh um seven months... Embarassed

That and I don't know if I'd have time for it with school. I have a hint of an idea though...

I've been working on an entry just for fun but I am reluctant to enter because I'm still not satisfied. I actually have a couple stories I would consider entering but I don't want to enter unless I think I'll actually win. I'm going to keep trying to make something good enough before I enter. I would really like to see what people think of my writing though. Right now, I'm so broke, I dunno if I'd even want to part with the entry fee. I might have to wait till another time. Confused

With only 3 entries so far, if you submit your several, you'd have a 50% or so chance of winning.

Not to mention the prize increases exponentially. What's $15 when you could win over $100?

So, are you going to allow multiple entries, if you pay an entrance fee for each one?

I'd vote for that, as long as they aren't all stories about Fuwa Kuzaemon..."Fuwa Kuzaemon Goes to the Market"...."Fuwa Kuzaemon Combs His Hair"..."Fuwa Kuzaemon and the Blustery Day"... Just Kidding

Yeah, as long as the fee is paid for each entry, sure, why not.

Aww, geez!!! I was going to write "Fuwa Kazuemon meets the Shinsengumi." The plot would be utterly fantastic. Fuwa Kazuemon doesn't really die after participating in the Kira raid. Instead, he spirits himself out of Edo, puts himself in a time machine, and meets up with the Shinsengumi in a truly action-packed swordfight -- and he defeats all of them single-handedly.

Then I was going to write Part 2 of this amazing epic where he duels with Sakamoto Ryoma and kills him -- thus solving the Who Assassinated Sakamoto Ryoma mystery. Just Kidding Just Kidding Twisted Evil

Part 3 involves Fuwa Kazuemon meeting up with Tom Cruise plus the Army of Black-Robed Ninjas. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

There, now aren't these fantastic plots? You should cancel the entire contest and just award me all of the prizes right now. Just Kidding Just Kidding

$15 is a lot to a poor bastard like me. Seriously, the price of living round here is crazy. I suppose I could get a smaller house but my house kicks too much a** so it's worth it. I like the idea of submitting multiple entries, but I really don't think I'm going to be able to afford it right now. If I really think I'll win, I'll go for it, but right now I don't think anything I've written is good enough to win. I suck at writing. We should have an art contest!
