Rekishi Gunzou Presents Monoshiri Edo Meijin (Edo Expert) is a new video game/quiz program release for the Nintendo DS from Rekishi Gunzou, producers of the historical series of books we all love. 歴史群像 presents ものしり 江戸名人, like its two predecessors will be a quiz program presented within the framework of a game. This time, though, it'll be focused on (presumably) the Edo period. If it's anything like the other two, it'll be entertaining as well as highly informative and a test of your historical knowledge, and also just perfect for those with intermediate Japanese skills. It comes out April 10th in Japan (Japanese language only, although it'll run on a North American DS), and I'll have more info on it then.

I hate to say this, as a curmugeonly moderator. But... I believe that threads about games belong in the "Entertainment" section, just as threads about films belong in the "samurai Film" section.

It's a historical quiz program, and has more real information and learning possibilities in it than most books in English-hence its inclusion here. Using your example, while we wouldn't discuss a movie here, we would discuss an historical documentary. Same thing.

As this is an Edo Period quiz program aimed at helping people learn about REAL Edo period history, I don't see anything wrong with posting it here.

I agree that REEL history belongs in the Samurai Film forum, but documentaries on the Edo period are most welcome in this forum.

See... Once again here we go. The DS gets yet another title while the PSP gets some ridiculous Gundam title...

Bloody hell! Evil or Very Mad
