Greetings all,

I am currently in the process of writing a thesis centered around an ironclad warship that made its way into, basically, Ishin Shishi pro-Emperor hands during the Bakumatsu. It was first given the name Koutetsu and then later named Azuma and took part in the Battle of Hakodate.
If anyone has any information regarding the two Japanese navies of the time I would love a nudge in the right direction. Also, would anyone happen to know of a contact source in Japan for something similar to a national naval archive?
Many thanks in advance.

Peace,

Matt

shikisoku,

My Japanese is sub-par in comparison to Tony and ltdomer, but I have a basic level of comprehesion...plus a few books and a very helpful Nihongo no sensei. Many thanks for the links, I will see what I can get from them.

kitsuno,

A reference to what I consider to be a hilarious Flash animation poking fun at the way most Nihongo classes are taught. The audio apparantly comes from some Japanese comedy group and has be done up in this Flash.

I hope you enjoy.

Peace,

shikisoku,

That looks like quite a wealth of information. I might be tempted to purchase it. Many thanks for finding it.

Peace,

Matt
