I'm trying to do a bit of research into the lifestyle and training of Edo period artists, specifically Ukiyo-e artists/artisans, more specifically the block carvers.
I'm hoping to find something along the line of Vasari's "Lives of the Artists"
only covering Japanese Edo artists.

Anybody know of some good source material, books, threads, or otherwise?

Thanks in advance.
