Has anyone seen the 1951 film "Yoidore Hachimanki (A Horde Of Drunken Samurai)"? Based on the title, it sounds like my kind of film. I was wondering if it lived up to its title.

I haven't...

But given the title, it can either be really good, or really bad. That title doesn't allow much leeway. Smile

Well, my hopes are shattered. It seems that it's a remake of Ronin Gai (the 1928 version).

Well, the newest version of Ronin-gai is great - pimps, drunken samurai, bitch slappin', hordes of samurai killin', crazy ronin action. So any similarities could only be good...

I have the more modern version of Ronin Gai. It's a good, gripping film. So is this film available anywhere -- with English subtitles for those of us who are Japanese Language challenged?

Yeah, I've seen it-it is good. But it's not the hilarious gut-busting stooge like antics of a pack of bumbling samurai (hopefully commanded by an equally inebriated Uesugi Kenshin) that I was hoping for.
Wave Tossed, my vid dealer in Japan says he doesn't have it and it's not available from any other source I know of.
