LW&C #1 is way too much cheesy, over-the-top fun to pass up. Go with that.

Neither of those films were available so I picked up these two instead:

Lone Wolf and Cub - Baby Cart in Peril Very Happy

and From the Shogun Collection:

Shogun's Ninja (Ninja Bugeicho Momochi Sandayu) starring Sonny Chiba

Hopefully these two will be really entertaining. Just Kidding

Zombies? Like those zombies in all the Tokyo Metro posters?

http://www.tokyometro.jp/anshin/kaiteki/poster/index.html

I will save Chanbara Beauty for another weekend.

Lone Wolf and Cub - Baby Cart in Peril

Oh yeah.

Flaming swords, tattooed naked female bodies, severed limbs galore, machine gun baby carts. I love it.

It doesn't get any better than this. Cool

I'm watching the last LW&C movie now. Ogami Itto is undergoing "buri-buri" torture now.

Hanzo the Razor. I'll put that on my list.

Obenjo, are you literally watching LW&C right now? Isn't it about 3pm in Tokyo right now? Is this how you spend your Saturday Afternoons? Razz

When you're wiped out from being sick all week and then waking up at 7:30 AM to do some work related stuff, then cleaning the apartment and have a wife who walks in the door from an overseas business trip at 9 am and she's sick, yeah, this is how I spend my Saturday afternoons. Otherwise I'd be out grocery shopping or doing other mundane things like maybe going to the gym, strolling around with my camera and taking pictures of historical places for my Flickr site, reading a book, or catching up on sleep, or even maybe researching something for a blog post or a discussion group. Or maybe even playing <<gasp>> a computer game. Just Kidding

Nuff said. Wink

I hope it's not the Swine Flu. Get well.

I understand the domestic stuff. I actually am temporarily single right now as my wife and kids are currently visiting her family in Tochigi a few hours north of you. Hence the weekly samurai weekends. She's not into this stuff.

Hmm I've just had three wisdom teeth removed and I can't talk much so I've been on the couch watching movies myself and I've watched all four of the Shogun Collection movies a few times each and then I watched the Last Samurai.

I think I'd commit seppuku after continuous repeated viewings of those movies... Harakiri

They aren't that bad. Sonny Chiba is ok and since they are the only movies I have that have samurai in them I like them.

I have the Shogun Collection Shogun's Ninja right now. I will be watching it tonight. Can it be as good as Lone Wolf and Cub I watched last night?

Wooo hooo hoooo Very Happy

Shogun's Ninja. Even more cheesy then Baby Cart in Peril.

Tarzan Swinging camo clad ninjas
Ball grabbing torture
Mole tunneling ninjas
Cool music

And what was up with the Young One's dancing after the execution scene?

If the Hanzo flicks are cheesier then this then I will be impressed.

Sanada Hiroyuki was just looking for an outlet for his grief over losing the leading role in Flash Dance to Jennifer Beals.

I also have Shogun's Ninja on disc, but would you be surprised if I said I hate this movie? Laughing The problem with Shogun's Ninja is that it tries to be too many things-- a chambara film, a goofy ninja film, a kung-fu film and a disco musical. When this was made, disco, kung-fu and cheese-ball Ninja were all the rage. Chiba's Japan Action Club tries to cash in all these things.

The Hanzo the Razor films are on a totally different level that will entertain you for the sheer bare naked silliness and larger than life characters and violence. However, it all works well together--somehow. Wink

No. Because I really didn't like it either. I had a few good laughs but almost two hours of this was pretty painful. The gymnastic rope and branch swinging near the end had me cracking up.

I gotta see these Hanzo films.

Ok I gotta admit Shogun's Ninja was a movie to laugh at. I hate it and I don't watch it unless I'm in the mood for a good laugh. The other three in the shogun's collection aren't too bad. A little over the top sure but at least they are real Japanese samurai movies.

ROTFLMAO

I've had the trilogy recorded on my DVR for some time now and just got around to watching "Sword of Justice" for the first time last night. Shocked
I was really impressed with the opening sequence, then it seemed it was going to regress into your typical Bushido/justice morality play, then it got... interesting...

I'm going to attempt to summarize the film solely with our available emoticons, here goes:

Ranting from the soapbox I'm hiding Bring it on Bring it on I care Bitchslap You're whipped Party time I aint fraid of no ninja! Green bouncer Mad Pimpin You rule

I couldn't find anything to represent hanging a sick old man so his kids don't have to be crucified for doing it themselves (closest thing would have been the seppuku one), so I left that last bit out...

Definitely a must see! Can't wait 'til I get around to watching the rest.
