This may be only the second Miike movie that I really want/wanted to see. Looks good.

And by the way, what do you mean "premieres on TV Asahi"? This is going to be a theatrical release. The Youtube clip of the trailer was lifed off a high definition broacast from TV Asahi-- hence it's logo in the top left corner.

Sorry.I should have provided the link from Nippon Cinema and put quotes on that sentence. That was quoted from Nippon cinema and is a bit confusing. The trailer is from Asahi and the film will be a theatrical release.

This has been picked up by Magnolia Pics (Tom Cruise's company )(along with the Korean over the top shocker" I Saw The Devil" )and will be released in theaters in May .

Prior to that it will debut on Comcast on Demand on 3/29 where you can rent it for $10:99 .

The big question is the Japanese Version is 141 min's long so will be get the full version or an edited truncated version? ,Most of Miike's Films that have made it to our shores for a legit release have gone under the knife ,usually for no other reason than the running time .The Japanese DVD comes out on May 27th but of course it is un-subbed .

This has been branded as the best Samurai Film for the last 30 years ,not that it has too much competition only Yamada's Trilogy and Mibu Gishiden come to mind though im sure others lurk ,So lets hope we get the full version .

I'll be getting the DVD when it comes out, and will probably put together a review.

The original 1963 film was really the only Kudo film i like ,i know this guy is semi legendary but i have always found him to be like one of those low budget journeymen Spaghetti Western Directors not at all in the same class as Misumi who could do wonders with a small budget .
