Some years ago i built a Do-maru type armour out of plate steel using mostly The sengoku daimyo website for reference. I did not use any patterns however because i changed some things to my taste and size.
Since the begin of the project im reading and researching a lot about samurai armour types and construction but i still dont know everything.
I also dont have any acces to a real- or replica of a real suit so i cannot cheat by looking at one.

My question:
I think i have figured out everything except for the shoulder parts. I think my sode are not connected right or the shoulder parts dont have the right shape yet.
Can anyone help me with this by telling me how it is suppossed to be, or show some pictures or drawings (i cant find any that show these details)?

Tony Bryant would be the ideal person to answer.

I'm not sure what you are looking for. Would the following pics be of help? These are from different types of armour.

Loop and toggle attachments:
You need four loops, two on each 'shoulder strap':

You need four 'toggles', two on each sode:
There you go:

Thanks, i think i needed only the second picture.

My sode look the same as the ones in the last picture.
Are the shoulder 'wings' beneath the sode rounded or straight like straps?

The rear section of the Do has two curved arms projecting over the shoulders. Sometimes these have a flat surface underneath, sometimes rounded for comfort, and sometimes they are padded with material.

The whole Do hangs on your shoulders from these. The front section connects by loop and toggle to the fronts of these arms.

The Sode are of many construction and types. If yours is like the ones in Pic 2 above, then for each Sode, there will be two loop/toggle connections.
