Anyone know anything about the movie Princess Toyotomi? It looks to me like a dumb mix of National Treasure and The DaVinci Code:

Browsing the 'net it appears to be pretty big at the Japanese box office right now.

Princess Toyotomi? Well, who else but Naahime!

This looks like a comedy in the style of older movies and TV dramas from the 60s or 70s, which is definitely meant to be campy. With a current theme such as sex changes mixed with a favorite historical family, the short-lived, self-made Toyotomi. I think they are aiming at all ages.

The book was a run-away hit here and the movie looks campy but fun. Japan desperately needs some "feel good" entertainment at this point.

Carmen, have to ask, but why are most of your posts these days in italics? Are you quoting long passages from other works? Laughing

I got a loud laugh out of that!

Well, italics look refined. Do they make you seasick?
