Would anyone have an idea where I might to able to find a copy of ‘Teki Wa Honno-ji Ni Ari’ (‘The Enemy Is At Honnoji’, the 60’s (?) Nobunaga vs Mitsuhide epic)? Any language or format would be fine.

OK, I talked to Merlin (www.samuraidvd.com) and he says he has no copies. He has THOUSANDS of amazing films if you email him for details on specifics. He doesn't carry it.

I am working with a few others in trying to locate the film, so all is not lost.

Ummm...yeah it's not going to be on amazon Wink

It's going to be a "shifty" copy if I or anyone gets a hold of it.

EDIT: Tatsunoshi, where did you hear about this in the first place? Also, do you possibly have actors/directors?

Oh this sounds pretty interesting. I haven't heard of this film but I'm already excited. Please, if you get your hands on it, give a review on your thoughts of it.

According to imdb, it's directed by Tatsuo Ohsone:

My wife sent me the two sheet for it she found at the To-ji flea market. Way cool with Oda and Akechi the main players and photos of the other cast members lining the left side.

OK, I managed to get a couple of photos posted along with a few other items. For your viewing pleasure:

Be forewarned that if you are reading this long after the posting date, you're just as likely to get a picture of one of my wife's dolls or a blood-splattered clown (as I change the pictures to suit whoever needs something). So consider yourself forewarned...

After checking the poster out a bit more, I have a couple of corrections/additions:

A)It’s not Akechi and Oda in the main part, but Akechi Mitsuhide on the top and a mystery samurai on the bottom (more on that later).
B)The other characters on the left from top to bottom:
1)Oda Nobunaga
2)O-that’s it-just the kana for O. As this is just an honorific added to the beginning of a woman’s name, it could be anyone-it’s probably O-No/Kicho, since many movies and novels (not history books) have her being with Oda at Honno-ji.
3)Oda’s flunky and ‘target of opportunity’ Mori Ranmaru
4)This guy, along with #9, has the surname Nagai. This was a retainer family of the Tokugawa, but neither of them is listed among the Nagai in Sengoku Chronik, so I’m assuming they are just generic samurai in the movie.
5)Hosokawa Tadaoki
6)Forgot this one already, but it was not an historical woman.
7)Shu-seems like a strange name for a woman, but it’s the only way this kanji can be read
8)Ishida Mitsunari
9)another Nagai (see #4)
10)Tokugawa Ieyasu

The guy with the headband under Mitsuhide is his infamous relative Akechi Sama-No-Suke making a rare non-videogame appearance.
I assume the woman in the poster is also pictured at the left, as they don’t have a kanji for her.

Poor Ranmaru, always portrayed as some sixteen year old effeminite pansy. I heard that they basically made him a girl when Koei decided to include him in Samurai Warriors. That's so sad.

Yes, they did. Most of the kids on the vid game forums thought he was a girl. For Sengoku Musou 2 they tried to make him a little more masculine-like a young teenage boy rather than a crossdresser and avoided showing him being chummy in the cutscenes with Oda and Akechi as in the first one.

Too bad. I remember in one story (I think it was Yoshikawa's Taiko) Ranmaru was written as borderline scheming and Mitsuhide even thought of giving Ranmaru Sakamoto Castle once he'd killed Nobunaga.

On another note, was Sengoku Musou 2 any good compared to its predecessor, or did Koei basically 'stick to the formula'?

Pretty much the same Dynasty Warriors type gameplay. Loads of extra new characters, no more items, new character specific skills, no extra costumes, new stages, no create an officer, no extra costumes. Still very addicting.

Well, I don't see the guy I invited to the forum here yet...maybe he got lost in transit.

However, he informs me that this film is a "low budget bloodless costume epic...nothing to write home about."

Where to find this film is still up in the air.
